Our Republic of the Marshall Islands practice
We have one of the world’s largest Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) practices, and are the only law firm able to serve clients operating across all time zones, from our offices in New York, Hong Kong and Singapore. We provide advice to clients incorporated in the RMI, as well as entities with RMI interests operating in the United States, Europe, Canada, Latin America, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
Our extensive experience advising on RMI law has grown as a result of our market-leading global shipping practice, where we regularly act for clients on high profile transactions and disputes involving RMI-flagged vessels and entities.
The RMI is one of the largest ship registries in the world, representing a significant number of the world’s shipping fleet. A growing number of business entities incorporated or formed in the RMI, such as corporations, limited liability companies (LLCs) and Master Limited Partnerships (MLPs) are routinely used as vehicles for shipping and non-shipping activity – our work includes advising investors on their entry into the shipping industry through investment in RMI-registered companies and funds, and in RMI-flagged vessels.
Our lawyers have advised on some of the most complex and sophisticated RMI transactions in the market, including acquisitions, financings, registrations, enforcement, joint ventures and offerings, as well as on the formation, restructuring and mergers of offshore and domestic entities across various business sectors. Our RMI-qualified lawyers represent international financial institutions, funds-listed companies and vessel owners.
